In 1898, some football players have created the US Boulogne (Sportive union) and have chosen for black and red colours. Quickly, they won the Maritime Trophee (1904, 1905, 1906, 1909 and 1922) and became North champions (1906, 1925). US Boulogne was a football pioneer in the french north coast, thanks to his first three presidents : Thierry, Séguier and Demonchaux.

In 1929 USB achieved the quarter-finals of French Cup ! The national french team convened five players of US Boulogne ! During the war, the club stagnated in regionals leagues, but in 1959 USB came back in french football elite. The « Stade de la Libération » hosted most of 10.000 fans for the fantastic derby against Lille OSC.

1973 is the worse year for Boulogne history. This is the beggining of bad championships. In 1979 USB is relegated in third division and lose his professional status. Then the club is relegated again, in regional league. This is the end of the glory.

In 1998 US Boulogne celebrates his century during a friendly game against Liverpool, won 2-1. After lots of tentatives, they won the CFA League in 2005, thanks to Philippe Montanier and Hubert Fournier. The team access to the National league, then to the Ligue 2 and, finally, to the Ligue 1 in 2009. This exploit, this course, is permitted thanks to a great striker, Grégory Thil.

In 2010 USBCO is relegated in Ligue 2. In 2011 the club is relegated a second time, in third league.
Today, USBCO evolves yet in third league, called « Championnat national »
